Common diseases of tree peony

Gray mold

Symptoms: Gray mold mainly harms the stems, leaves, and flowers of tree peonies. When damaged, brown water stains appear on the stem, rot, and the seedlings wither and fall. Tree peony leaves are infected, resulting in irregular water stained lesions. There are more lesions on the tips and edges of the tree peony leaves, which are mostly brown or purple brown, sometimes with irregular whorls. When the weather is humid, gray mold like substances grow on the affected areas.

Condition of onset: Low temperature and humidity are the main conditions for onset. The temperature is lower in spring, and continuous rainy weather can worsen the disease incidence of seedlings.

Prevention and control methods:

Timely remove diseased leaves and plants, and burn them in a concentrated manner.

In case of disease in growing season, the following agents can be used for spray prevention and control: 1% lime equivalent Bordeaux solution, 70% methyl tobuzin 1000 times solution, 65% mancozeb 500 times solution, or 50% chloronitramine 1000 times solution. Spray once every 10-15 days, continuously spray 2-3 times.

The planting density should be moderate; Timely drainage after rain, and do not wet the soil at the base of the vegetation; Crop rotation should be implemented in severely ill areas; Plant disease-free seedlings, which can be disinfected by soaking them in 65% zinc solution at 300 times dilution for 10-15 minutes.
