Precautions for transplanting grafted peony seedlings
1、 Choose the appropriate transplanting time
Autumn transplanting: Late July to early November is suitable transplanting time, when the ground temperature is high, which can promote the emergence of new roots in peony seedlings.
2、 Prepare a good soil environment
Soil texture: Tree peonies should not be planted too wet. Neutral or slightly alkaline loam or sandy loam with high and dry terrain, good drainage, deep and loose soil should be selected.
Soil preparation: Before transplanting, the soil should be plowed and fertilized to ensure that it is fertile, loose, and breathable.
3、 Fine transplanting operation
Pruning seedlings: Before transplanting, the seedlings should be pruned to remove damaged roots and branches, ensuring that the main branches have sufficient nutrient supply.
Maintain root integrity: When excavating seedlings, efforts should be made to avoid damaging the root system and maintain its integrity and vitality.
Planting depth: The planting depth should be 30 centimeters deeper than the roots of the original plant, and an appropriate amount of decomposed organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer should be placed at the bottom of the pit and thoroughly mixed with the soil. When grafting peony seedlings, the grafting point should be buried under the soil
Planting method: When planting tree peonies, the root system should be evenly distributed in the pit, naturally stretched, and not curled together. When filling the soil, first use live soil to bury the root system of the tree peony, then gently shake the tree peony and lift it upwards to fully integrate the root system with the soil, and determine the planting depth.
